Knowledge is a ticket out of poverty.

The Salvation Army operates a variety of programs for children in need in our community.

Fifty-seven percent of children between 6 and 17 years old participate in at least one after-school extracurricular activity.

Children were more likely to participate in sports (35%) than clubs or lessons like music, dance and language.

The Salvation Army is a safe place for children to learn & grow.

Our first priority is to meet basic human needs, but we recognize the importance of programs that go beyond the basics of food, shelter, clothing and safety. In addition to meeting basic needs, The Salvation Army strives to provide programs that will help children thrive during crucial developmental years - from after school programs and summer camps, to childcare and toys at Christmas.

The Salvation Army supplements and supports kids' educational opportunities through a variety of programs.

Percussion Club

This program engages and involves children 8 years old and up in learning music and the multiple instrumentation, disciplines and genres of percussion.  Students learn how to play the keyboard, guitar, and drums.

Music Instruction meets on Tuesday afternoons 4:00 PM during the school year, and in the summer is part of Summer Day Camp.

Spring Fling
This is an annual block party for the community (primarily the west side of Salt Lake City) to celebrate being neighbors and give young people a greater sense of community.

Back to School Bash
This annual event assists hundreds of Elementary School age children with need school supplies and back packs.  It is also a fun filled carnival for the whole family. The first 250 elementary school children that attend get backpacks to send them back to school with much needed supplies.

Summer Day Camp
This program engages elementary school age children in a fun packed curriculum, including crafts, music, skits, puppets, games, bible lessons, field trips, swimming and community service.

High Peak Camp
This program gives youth ages 7-17 a residential camping experience in the beautiful mountain setting of Estes Park, Colorado.
